DUMELO TOPS FRANCIS DOKU'S 2015 LIST OF TOP 50 CELEBRITIES ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The list of Ghana’s top 50 celebrities with the highest following on social media has been released with actor John Dumelo at the top. That makes him the most popular Ghanaian entertainment icon on social media. With over 1.2million total number of weighted total of fans and followers on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, Dumelo stood head and shoulders above all other Ghanaian entertainment people with accounts on any or all three social media platforms. John Dumelo also led the pack in terms of raw or unweighted total with 4,249,830.00 across the three aforementioned social media platforms. Although he was not the leader in terms of most followed on Twitter and Instagram, his total haul of 3,290,531.00 of fans on Facebook contributed to pushing him to the top of the list. The compilation, which was done by Francis Doku, a columnist in the Graphic Showbiz and a marketing communications practitioner, was to determine which Ghanaian entertainers especially musicians, actors, comedians, radio and TV presenters had the most following on Twitter and Instagram as well as the most fans on Facebook together. It was also done to determine which of them had the largest following on each of the three platforms in 2015. John Dumelo and Christabel Ekeh_optIn order to remove any bias or advantage on specific platforms where individuals were stronger than others, weights were applied to each of the platforms as follows: Twitter 40%, Facebook 35% and Instagram 25%. The weights were applied according to the functional roles of each platform. Whereas Twitter provides adequate room for interactivity, Facebook makes it possible for engagement in the form of likes, shares and comments, while Instagram enables sharing photos and short videos for aesthetic appeal. The other nine celebrities who made it to the top ten on the weighted total hierarchy were Yvonne Nelson (1,188,062.75), Jackie Appiah (716,731.40), Sarkodie (660,092.55), Herty Bongreat (483,399.55), Funny Face (466,961.80), Asamoah Gyan (353,352.65), Stonebowy (312,300.05), Ama K. Abebrese (260,691.05) and Samini (253,866.80). Yvonne Nelson Yvonne Nelson Following Dumelo as the next most popular Ghanaian entertainer on social media as of December 26, 2015 was actress Yvonne Nelson, both for unweighted and weighted total. In the weighted total, Nelson had 1,188,062.75 and in the unweighted total she had 2,389,421.00 across the different social media platforms of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The actress and film producer overwhelmingly beat everyone with a total of 982,245.00 followers to emerge as the Ghanaian celebrity with the most following on Instagram. She was second on Twitter and Facebook with a total of 564,188.00 followers and 2,389,421.00 fans respectively. In a list that is dominated by actors and actresses, popular actress Jackie Appiah emerged as the third most popular Ghanaian on social media. Although she had a very negligible number of followers on Twitter, her impressive number of fans on Facebook and followers on Instagram shot her to the number three position. With a total number of 1,761,883.00 fans on Facebook, Jackie Appiah is the third most popular Ghanaian celebrity on that platform after Dumelo and Nelson. Also, with a total of 752,178.00 she is the third most followed Ghanaian celebrity on Instagram after Nelson and Dumelo in that order. Making it to the number four position on both unweighted and weighted total behind Jackie Appiah is multiple award winning rapper, Sarkodie. He is the most followed Ghanaian entertainment icon on Twitter with a total of 692,988.00 followers. Although he was the most followed celebrity on Twitter, his respective fifth position with 489,459.00 followers on Instagram and sixth position with 868,442.00 fans on Facebook contributed to pushing him to the fourth position on the list. One big surprise in the top ten is gospel artiste Herty Bongreat, though she had very negligible number of 305 followers on Instagram (the same number as Jackie Appiah had on Twitter) and also did not have a big number of followers on Twitter (3,104), her total haul of 1,606,939.00 fans on Facebook contributed to making her the fourth most popular Ghanaian on that platform and the fifth on the total list. Funny Face is the sixth most popular Ghanaian entertainer on social media on the weighted total hierarchy. He attained this enviable position because he is very popular across all three platforms, but most especially on Facebook where his total haul of 922,022.00 fans placed him behind Bongreat and ahead of Sarkodie as the fifth most popular on Facebook. He also attained the same position on Twitter where his total number of followers of 332,793.00 placed him directly behind Efya and ahead of Reggie Rockstone. Footballer and singer Asamoah Gyan, showed very strongly on Twitter and Facebook and also not badly on Instagram propelling him to occupy the seventh position on the list of the most popular Ghanaian entertainers for 2015. LEARN THE RIGHT THINGS GHANA!

It is always said that there is no smoke with a fire, and every old man was once a child. The blindly copying of western cultures by many Africa countries has brought them to where they are: Ghana an epitome of such blind copying has reached a no return stage, and left with trying all alternative ways to succeed. A perfect example of a good western culture I would like Ghana to adopt is the US Thanksgiving. The United State of America Thanksgiving is a holiday since 1863 after a federal holiday crops were gathered in November 1823 Governor William Bradford of the 1620 pilgrim colony ‘Plymouth Plantation’ Massachusetts proclaimed. On 1 November 1777 ny order of Congress the first National Thanksgiving proclamation was proclaimed and signed by Henry Laurens president of Continental Congress. The third Thursday of December 1777 was thus officially set aside. Then again January 1, 1795, the 1st president of U.S George Washington, wrote his famed National Thanksgiving proclamation, in which he says that it is……
“Our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God, and to implore Him to continue and confirm his blessings we experienced.” And was signed on 19th February 1795 and set aside by George Washington as national Thanksgiving Day. Abraham Lincoln by Act of Congress proclaimed an annual National Day of Thanksgiving “On the last Thursday of November as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens” In this Thanksgiving proclamation, the 16th president says that it is…
“…announced in the Holy scriptures and proven in all history, that those nations are blessed whose God is the Lord…But we have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, by the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own…It has seemed to me fit and proper that God should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice by the whole America people…”
. It is quiet wonderful and great United State of America is excelling in all their endeavors and most people around the world see America as a source of relief and a good place to relax for holiday, It is known worldly as ‘Heaven on Earth’ During Abraham Lincoln regime he gave a speech saying that those nations are blessed whose name is the Lord. Ghana is facing a lot of challenges which the opposition New Patriotic Party can help me mention is alphabetically, the Dumsor, NHIS, School feeding keep mentioning. Most of the time Is use to discuss minor cases of disagreement. For once let adopt a method, let get back to our maker and a set a day aside like the 6th March, like Founder’s day and give thanks to the almighty Lord great things He has done for us. THE APRIL FOOL PRANK!

Rain! Rain!! go away go and come another day…..Herr early days in school was super fun as young children we taught life was eat, play and sleep. As the waves of adulthood blows there we got to know how unpredictable life is. Cracking of jokes and teasing each other was a normal activity played among friends. There has been survival things my colleagues’ and I used to entertain ourselves some include hide and seek, computer games, brain teasers, ghost riders, and occasionally pulling of pranks and many others. There was this pranks which always got us into trouble and here I introduce the piece you just started reading ‘The April Fool Prank!’. April Fool Day is a day known widely as all fool’s day or a foolish day its origins are uncertain. Some see it as a celebration related to the turn of the seasons while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar New Year’s Day Moves Ancient cultures, including those of the Romans and Hindus, celebrated New Year’s Day on or around the vernal equinox (March 2006 or March 21st) in medieval times, much of Europe celebrated March 25, the Feast of Annunciation, as the beginning of the new year. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a new calendar (Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new calendar called for New Year’s Day to be celebrated Jan 1. That year, France, adopted the reformed calendar and shifted New Year’s day to Jan 1. According to a popular explanation, many people either refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it, and continued to celebrate New Year’s day on April 1. Other people began to make fun of these traditionalists, sending them on “fools errands” or trying to trick them into believing something false. Eventually spread throughout Europe. It believed that the explanation given for the April fool day was half truth since England for instance didn’t adopt the Gregory Calendar until 1752 yet they were celebrating April fool’s day and also the historical evidence for this explanation. April Fool’s Day celebrated every April 1 where people are sent on a fool errands and if become a victim of a trick or boas you are called April Fool. Over the years many have died through such pranks that, they were pulled with expensive jokes. Joy FM has over the years been pulling pranks on their listeners, a year ago Joy FM carries away the news that, the host of the Cosmopolitan Mix show Doreen Andoh Queen of the airwaves after nineteen (19) years of dedicated service, the goddess of radio has existed the station and is heading towards a different field which most popular sites in the country including citifmonline.com spread the news which all ended up to be lies and an April fool indeed.
The sister station of Joy FM Adom106.3 FM which boast to be the best radio station in the country also in last three years pulled a prank that their star comedian Efo Gh (the Ewe man who has been cracking jobs with Jerry Justice on Offiekwanso) would be marrying on the 1 day of April and so therefore vehicles would be place at certain vantage points for the lovers of Efo Gh and Adom FM to help make the event a grand one. Somewhere last year when Mr. Blessed Godsbrain Smart known well as Captain Smart left Fox FM in Kumasi and joined the Accra based radio station Adom FM, when it got to the April fool day, Adom FM alarmed that the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) has taken custody of Captain Smart for wrong allegations which almost made his mum go mad which she rushed all the way from Central Region to know the where about of her only child Blessed Godsbrain Smart turning out to all be in the name of April Fool. There have been survival attempts to quit the celebration of Fool day’s considering the illegality, April fool is a day of sending people on fool errands but not create tension panic and fear. What come may it is really fun to enjoy but whenever you fall a victim remember you are called an April Fool. Let celebrate such a wonderful but shocking day. Stay alert not to be an April Fool on the Fool’s day.
